There are some out there that might be pessimistic about the Singaporean music scene. Some say that they are poor imitators of their Western counterparts. However, the media plays a part as well. If we look at the right places, there is a lot of talent waiting to be discovered.
They are made up of: Fandy Razak - Drums, Khairyl Hashim - Bass, Magdelene Han - Keyboards, Saiful Idris - Vocals/Guitar, Song - Guitar
As talent goes, The Great Spy Experiment have lots of it. Influenced by bands like The Killers, Ash & Radiohead,Their sound is a wonderful mix of rock, pop and electronica; unique enough to stand out while current enough to be hip and popular. This band has the potential to break into the mainstream music scene, just like fellow talents Electrico.
2007 was quite a year for the band. They travelled to Austin, Texas to participate in South-by-Southwest Music Festival. In addition, they went to Central Park in New York City, to perform in "Singapore Day". That year also saw the release of their debut album "Flowershowriots".
With continued support from fans and a chance to get exposure which would allow the band to gain even more fans and be more prominent in the music scene. If they were to make it big, locally and abroad, The Great Spy Experiment would be a fine representative of Singaporean music.
